I need a suggestion on how much to charge someone to watch a 2 year old and a 5 year old. I used to work at a daycare but haven’t babysat in a while. She needs me to watch them while she gets a part time job just durning the summer? Any advice would be helpful.
P.S. She doesn’t know what to pay either!
If you are doing the whole day – including meals, etc (basically, like a daycare) I would feel comfortable charging $20 a kid. As a ‘package deal’ for two kids… maybe.. $30-35? Is she providing food, snacks, diapers?, etc – consider this if you are paying for it.
$12 an hour.

20 dollars a day is reasonable. for two kids.

$35 a day (I am assuming it is full days just not full weeks) sounds reasonable for my area.

I would charge a couple dollars a day less than what your local daycares charge.

i would suggest between $5-10 per hour. $5/hr is the norm for babysitting, but because there are two children you amy want to ask for a bit more, like min. wage. Remember that you wont be getting taxed for ur earnings so it is normal for it to be lower than an avg. part time job. also consider where you will be babysitting, if it is at the childrens’ house then it can be less because it will be the parent supplying everything for you, but if you are taking the kids into your home and have to feed them out of your own pocket and invest in materials for activities you may want to ask to be compensated fot those supplies.

$12 an hour is way high. but somewhere between $20-$35 a day is good depending on what your having to do during the day.

I think between $8-10/hr is very reasonable. They are putting their childs life in your hands. THey should be willing to pay more, if you’re more qualified.
